Hi! I’m Christine Marcantonio. Welcome to The Navy Door. I’m a thirty-seven year old mother of four, who loves to repurpose old and new items, living in Avon Lake with my husband and our children.
I actually never thought I would be writing a blog, you see I went to Central Michigan University where I studied design and merchandising, as well as broadcasting. I worked in New York City, for a watch design company and for a well known stylist. I really wanted a clothing design job, and went on what felt like hundreds of interviews, and kept getting turn down. Determined to fill that design void, I opened my own shop in Springfield. After about a year, my husband’s job took us back to our hometown where we started our family.
Still feeling like I really needed to exercise by creative side, I did many different “side” design jobs, and studied to get a manicurist license. I know what your thinking, I’m everywhere! But this gave me my daily design outlet, and remember I only had “side” jobs. Those jobs really helped me find what I have a real passion for, and although I still love clothing design, I love working with old items I find at the thrift store, or on the side of the road…its like the older and rustier, the better! I’ve also been known to redo brand new things, like my kitchen cabinets, yes I said brand new! You can do it too, because I’m here to help and show you how!
